It was just one of {those} days.

Either I was the greatest, most challenging teacher ever and my kids just weren't ready for the level of rigor I threw at them -OR- I lacked both patience and classroom management today.  Or maybe I was speaking Chinese?

Whatever the reason, today was one of those days.  If I said stand up, they sat down.  If I said count the blocks, they built a tower.  If I said write this word, they drew a mural.  And I felt like I tried everything to get them back on track.  The "if this is what happens when I let you measure with gummy worms then I guess we'll just go back to doing boring work" guilt trip.  {nothing}  The "I love how so-and-so is sitting and being a good listener.  Here's an M&M" positive reinforcement modeling.  {nada}  Even the "instead of reading a story today, everyone who does a good job of following directions and clipping up can have a dance party" bribe.  {zip}

By the time I got to my Social Studies lesson on Dr. Martin Luther King at the end of the day, I had all but given up.  We were talking about peace and how to get along with everyone.  My examples were not arguing, listening, using kind words and sharing things at school.  {Hmmm...wherever did I get these examples because they aren't familiar at all!}  As much as I would love to say that the peace lightbulb went off and we all ended the day holding hands and singing kum by yah, that wasn't so much the case.

What's that sign going around on Pinterest?

Well, my day wasn't even over at dismissal {PTA function night!} but when I did finally get home I found a loving husband, precious puppy and clean kitchen.  I love my kids and my job and even if it takes me stepping out of the situation and taking a few deep breaths, I understand that we all have off days.  Tomorrow is a new one with new possibilities for all of us.

{And when I get to heaven I'm going to ask God...were the full moons really necessary?!}

Happy Friday!!  :)

  1. I just said this afternoon that my class has been so off this week and that nothing I did has made a difference (positive or negative)! I'm just hoping it's the full moon!

  4. I'm glad I'm not the only one whose kiddos had a tough day today. I'm going to blame it on the full moon, weather {we've had crazy amounts of snow} and Friday the 13th. Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day for both of us!
